In a world where most speakers focus purely on technical performance, with TR\u00d6TE I set out to make sound visible, transforming it into a sculptural experience. TR\u00d6TE is more than a high-end audio device; it\u2019s an exploration of material, form, and acoustics brought together in a singular object that\u2019s as much a sculpture as it is a speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/xometry.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Bildschirmfoto-2025-04-11-um-13.35.57.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71436\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-\"><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>TR\u00d6TE began with a bold question I asked myself:&nbsp;<em>Can sound become a physical form?<\/em>&nbsp;This challenge brought together traditional craftsmanship, acoustic science, and advanced manufacturing. Rather than hide components inside a box, I wanted TR\u00d6TE to showcase its structure \u2014 making each element part of a visual and acoustic story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/xometry.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/250403_Nils_Sorger_Trote_Final_Web_-25.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71437\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Designer Nils Sorger with TR\u00d6TE, his sculptural sound installation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The name \u201cTr\u00f6te\u201d in German refers to a crude and noisy horn. With this project, I turned that idea on its head. TR\u00d6TE is deliberate, sonically refined, and engineered with intention. It is as much a musical instrument as it is a sculptural installation \u2014 proving that sound design can move beyond function to become an expressive art form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-crafting-the-heart-the-hand-blown-glass-horn\"><strong>Crafting the Heart: The Hand-Blown Glass Horn<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At the heart of this vision lies an individually hand-blown glass horn, each one unique in its details. The adjustable aluminum base allows a 5-degree tilt, ensuring optimal sound projection to the listener\u2019s ear level and enhancing the immersive experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fusion of organic glass and engineered metal creates a balance between art and performance that is rare in the audio world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-precision-behind-the-base\"><strong>The Precision Behind the Base<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To realize the ambitious design, I needed mechanical parts that would match the uniqueness and precision of the glass horns. It\u2019s a fusion of craft and engineering, of glass and metal, of art and precision.
